Requirements

macOS 14 or later, on Apple silicon or Intel. An iPhone or iPad running iOS 16 or later, and a cable that carries data — some charge-only cables will not work.

First launch

mirro is distributed outside the Mac App Store, signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple.

1. 1.Open the downloaded .dmg and drag mirro to Applications.
2. 2.Launch it from Applications. macOS shows a Gatekeeper prompt the first time; click Open.
3. 3.The 7-day trial starts automatically. No account, no card.

Connecting your device

mirroring works over the cable, using the same capture path QuickTime uses — full frame rate, no compression, no wireless latency.

1. 1.Connect the device to your Mac with a data cable.
2. 2.Unlock the device.
3. 3.Tap Trust when iOS asks whether to trust this computer, then enter your passcode.
4. 4.The device appears in mirro within a second or two. If it does not, unplug and reconnect.

Touch control

Controlling the device from your Mac needs Accessibility permission, because mirro synthesises input events.

Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility and enable mirro. You only do this once.

Activating your licence

After the trial, open mirro and enter the licence key from your purchase email. One key activates up to two Macs.

To move the licence to a different Mac, remove the old one from Account → Devices on mirro.tech, or from within mirro on that machine. The seat frees up immediately.

Working offline

mirro checks in with our servers about once a day. If it cannot reach them — on a plane, behind a firewall — it keeps working for up to three weeks and shows a non-blocking notice.

It only stops if our servers actively tell it the licence is no longer valid.

Device is not detected

In order of likelihood:

1. 1.The cable is charge-only. Try a different one.
2. 2.The device is locked. Unlock it and look for the Trust prompt.
3. 3.You tapped "Don't Trust" earlier. On the device: Settings → General → Transfer or Reset → Reset Location & Privacy, then reconnect.
4. 4.Another app is holding the capture device. Quit QuickTime Player and any screen-recording tools, then reconnect.

Uninstalling

Quit mirro and move it to the Trash. To remove its settings as well, delete ~/Library/Application Support/mirro and ~/Library/Preferences/tech.mirro.mac.plist. Deactivate the Mac from Account → Devices first if you plan to use the seat elsewhere.
